July 11, 2010 - Huntington, NY. Paradiddle Records announces the release of "Life in a Hurry", the new release by Long Island based Singer-Songwriter Jay Scott and his band. The five song EP is a follow up to the 2008 Paradiddle Release, "Homegrown" that was recorded live at the Patchogue Theatre. " Life in A Hurry" includes four new studio recordings and a bonus track that will be available on the CD version but not the download.

Scott's music has hints of southern rock but is really more a fusion of genres like folk, rock and jazz with gritty, heartfelt vocals alongthe lines of Joe Cocker or Bruce Springsteen. His unique voice and acoustic guitar sound combine with a tight backing band on "Life in a Hurry" to deliver a crisp new recording. There is a maturity to his songs that are a refreshing departure from typical pop songs. His lyrics and their passionate delivery present an honest story of one man's life that people can really identify with, especially in these times.

"Guiding Light" opens the CD and is a song from a father to his children that reflects the changes in Scott's life since the songs on "Homegrown" were written. The father of three sings, "Take your time, take it slow. Watch the world around you as you grow. It's your life, take your stand. Promise me you'll do the best you can." The second track is Scott's take on Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" that has been a staple of his live shows for many years and is a unique interpretation of the classic that stands on its own as a Jay Scott song. The third track, "Life in a Hurry" slows things down a bit and is a haunting waltz that is a love song and also a lament from a man working two jobs and not having enough time at home. "I'm working these jobs to bring home my money because the babies get hungry when the morning time comes." The chorus is a simple "hey la la la" that closes the track in a beautiful a cappella four part harmony. The final studio track, "Father's Eyes", strikes a serious tone from a son who is estranged from his father, "All these wasted years and all these crying, wasted tears. In his eyes you'll see everything that you'll never be. It's hard to see through the lies - never looking through your fathers eyes." The "bonus track" is an 8 1/2 minute excerpt from one of two live interview/performances Scott did in 2007 with Bonnie Grice on 88.3 FM, Long Island's National Public Radio (NPR) station.

"Life in a Hurry", rather than being a full length CD is a snapshot of hiswork with his current band; Chris P. Cauley on Drums, Dan Bolze on Bass and Sean Virag on lead guitar. We have been really clicking live, Scott said, "and we went into the studio and caught a little lightening in a bottle with these four tracks." They came together so quickly that he decided to release them as an EP rather than wait to record a full length album. Recorded at Suffolk Recording Studios in Patchogue Village, "Life in a Hurry" features Scott's trademark passionate vocals and three part harmonies backed by Cauley's solid drumming and blistering lead guitar by Virag on all four tracks. Bolze plays bass on "Knockin on Heaven's Door" and "Father's Eyes" and Dave March did the bass on "Life in A Hurry" and "Guiding Light". Jeff Pearlman's organ is heard on "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" and "Father's Eyes" and keyboardist Bill Sperl added piano and organ to "Guiding Light". In addition to producing and mixing the CD, Bill Herman added percussion to "Life in A Hurry".
